Maison Leroy is one of the most storied names in Burgundy, founded in 1868 in Auxey-Duresses by François Leroy and now synonymous with the perfectionism of Lalou Bize-Leroy. While Domaine Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay produce her estate wines, Maison Leroy is the négociant arm, drawing on parcels that reflect the same uncompromising selection.
This regional Bourgogne Blanc is sourced from estate parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Savigny-lès-Beaune, giving it a level of pedigree well beyond the village classification. Yields are kept low and the fruit is farmed biodynamically, with the same patient cellar work applied to the Grand Crus.
The 2016 shows fresh pear, honeysuckle and white flower aromatics laced with flint and oyster-shell minerality. The palate is tightly wound and beautifully balanced, with tart apple and stone fruit rolling into a saline, citrus-tinged finish. It carries serious depth for a regional Burgundy and continues to drink well with bottle age.
