Fourth Distillery In Tasmania
Grown From Strength To Strength
Recognised as one of the ‘original’ Tasmanian single malts, the Overeem whisky journey began in 2005 when local whisky enthusiast Casey Overeem was seeking a hobby to occupy his time in retirement. Founded upon a promise 'to one day craft a single malt whisky that would stand alongside the best in the world' Casey made some 25 years earlier, he began distillation in a custom made still house at his suburban property in 2007.
In 2014 Casey sold the distillery to a group of local Tasmanian investors and quietly ‘re-entered’ retirement, content that his lifelong promise, spanning some 30+ years, had been fulfilled.
In 2020, Overeem Whisky was remarkably sold to Jane and Mark, effectively returning the Distillery back to its founding family. Over the past 4 years, the brand has grown from strength to strength, winning multiple national and international awards, significantly increasing production, sales, brand awareness, and employing a small team of industry professionals that have fully adopted and are continually motivated by the same founding principles that once inspired Casey.
