Domaine Sylvain Cathiard is one of the most sought-after names in Vosne-Romanée, a family estate founded by Sylvain's grandfather and led since 2011 by his son Sébastien, who has refined the domaine's elegant, perfumed house style. Its holdings read like a roll call of the village's finest premier crus, and Les Reignots is among the most prized of them.
Aux Reignots is a small premier cru on the steep upper slope of Vosne-Romanée, sitting just above some of the commune's most famous grand cru vineyards. The thin, stony limestone soils give a Pinot Noir of great finesse: fragrant red and dark cherry, rose petal and the warm spice typical of Vosne, carried by fine-grained tannins, a mineral spine and a long, precise finish.
A wine that rewards patience in the cellar, it is superb alongside roast squab, duck breast, venison or a simple dish of wild mushrooms that lets its perfume shine.
