Penfolds Bin 150 draws its Shiraz from Marananga, a warm, highly regarded pocket of the Barossa Valley in South Australia known for producing dark, richly flavoured reds. It is one of the more recent sub-regional additions to the Penfolds Bin range, offering a distinctly savoury take on Barossa Shiraz.
Dark and brooding, it pours with concentrated aromas of black plum, blueberry and crème de cassis, layered with dark chocolate, baking spice, licorice and a whiff of earth and fresh leather.
The palate is powerful and richly structured, yet lifted by spice and a savoury edge that keeps it characterful rather than heavy. Black cherry, plum, licorice and cocoa carry through to a long, ripe finish supported by firm, well-integrated tannins.
