Cobaw Ridge is a five-hectare family vineyard in the Macedon Ranges, planted by Alan and Nelly Cooper in 1985. Perched at altitude near Kyneton on granitic soils, it is among the coolest vineyard sites in Australia and is farmed under certified organic and biodynamic principles, with all wines made and bottled on the estate.
The Syrah is a true cool-climate expression, lighter and more lithe than warmer-region Shiraz. Red fruits such as cranberry, sour cherry and raspberry are wrapped in white and black pepper, fennel and dried herbs, with hints of pot pourri and crushed rock. Crisp acidity and fine tannins keep it fresh and savoury.
Enjoy with peppered lamb, charcuterie, roast quail or a herb-laden pork dish.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
