Weingut Dönnhoff has been one of the leading names of the Nahe for generations, currently led by Cornelius Dönnhoff. The estate is celebrated for working its top sites with quiet precision, producing some of Germany's most refined and ageworthy Rieslings across the full sweetness spectrum.
Oberhäuser Brücke is a Dönnhoff monopole, a single vineyard owned exclusively by the family. The site sits in a sharp bend of the Nahe river on grey slate bedrock with a covering of loess loam, and the cool microclimate consistently delivers extended hang time and remarkably pure botrytis when conditions allow.
Auslese is the German classification for a sweet wine made from selected, fully ripe and often partly noble-rotten bunches. The 2018 is fresh, intense and concentrated, with pear, white cherry, honeycomb, bee pollen and apple-blossom aromatics over a salty, slate-driven palate. Fermented and aged in stainless steel to keep its lift, the wine is built to drink now and to cellar for decades.
