Weingut Dönnhoff has been one of the leading names of the Nahe for generations, currently led by Cornelius Dönnhoff. The estate is celebrated for working its top sites with patience and quiet precision, producing some of Germany's most refined and ageworthy Rieslings across the full sweetness spectrum.
Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle has been considered the Nahe's top vineyard for over a century, sitting on a complex mosaic of blackish-grey slate, porphyry and limestone. Its steep south-facing slope gives wines of remarkable mineral drive and clarity, with a fine line of acidity that holds even the sweetest expressions in pristine balance.
Auslese is the German classification for a sweet wine made from selected, fully ripe and often partly noble-rotten bunches. The 2018 is grand and finely poised, with white peach, quince preserve, pear and white cherry aromatics layered with bee pollen, orange zest and a long, slate-driven mineral core. Built to age for decades.
