Since founding her domaine in 2013, Mee Godard has become one of the leading names in Morgon. She farms her old vines organically, keeps yields low and ferments in concrete, aiming for savoury, age-worthy Gamay with a sense of place rather than overt fruitiness.
This wine comes from Corcelette, a lieu-dit at the north-western end of Morgon, where sandy granite soils produce a more delicate, mineral style than the clay-rich Côte du Py. The wine carries the vineyard's typical finesse: fragrant red and blue fruits, a hint of violet, and a palate that starts gently before gathering momentum, with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and a long, stony finish.
Serve it in a large glass with roast pork, chicken with morels or a selection of hard cheeses, or cellar it for a few years to let it develop further.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
