A Cru Beaujolais from Domaine Lafarge-Vial, the Fleurie estate founded in 2014 by Frédéric Lafarge - of the iconic Domaine Michel Lafarge in Volnay - and his wife Chantal (née Vial). The couple built the domaine from the ground up, drawn by the granitic Beaujolais terroirs and the chance to work with Gamay in a new setting. It is farmed by Demeter-certified biodynamic practices.
100% Gamay from old vines (many 50+ years) on decomposed pink granite and quartz soils across Fleurie - including the high-altitude, steep-sloped Joie du Palais plot where horse-ploughing is required. Expect a perfumed, energetic Beaujolais with red berries, rose petal and gentle spice, balanced by a stony, mineral-driven palate and sustained acidity - old-school Beaujolais built to drink well now and age.
Hand-harvested, with around 15–25% whole-cluster fermentation in concrete with ambient yeasts, gentle extraction (pump-overs and punch-downs), and aged for around a year in used French oak barrels (228L and 350L) or foudres. Neither fined nor filtered.
