Mee Godard is a South Korean-born, French-raised winemaker who established her Beaujolais domaine in 2013. She is best known for her old-vine Morgon, and her Beaujolais-Villages offers an approachable introduction to her precise, carefully made Gamay.
The fruit comes from hillside sites in the Beaujolais-Villages area, including higher-altitude vineyards around Quincié and Lantignié on volcanic and sandy soils. It is grown with low yields, fermented in concrete with a portion of whole bunches and a long maceration, then bottled without filtration. The wine bursts with strawberry, raspberry, red cherry and redcurrant. The medium-bodied palate has supple tannins and a light, easy finish.
Serve it lightly chilled with charcuterie, pizza, roast chicken or a summer picnic spread.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
