Domaine Daniel Bouland is a cult 7-hectare family estate based in the hamlet of Corcelette in Morgon, today run by Daniel with his daughter Mélanie. The 'Sable' cuvée — from the French for 'sand' — is the sister wine to Bouland's 'Cailloux', sourced from the same Corcelette lieu-dit but from vines rooted in granitic sand rather than the neighbouring pebbly soils.
100% Gamay from Vieilles Vignes planted in 1926 on granitic sand soils in Corcelette. Expect the depth, intensity and personality of some of Morgon's oldest vines — a Gamay with structure and power, but also a pretty floral, densely fruited character and the sappy, mineral drive that the sandy terroir gives this parcel.
Hand-harvested from near-centenarian vines and vinified traditionally in whole bunches, with maceration lasting around two weeks. Aged in oak foudres with minimal intervention and small sulphur additions.
