Domaine Henri Boillot is a benchmark Côte de Beaune estate whose reach extends to some of Burgundy's greatest grand cru vineyards. Bonnes-Mares is one of the Côte de Nuits' most prestigious sites, straddling the border of Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, and it is renowned for producing Pinot Noir of remarkable power and longevity.
The vineyard's mix of soils, from lighter limestone in the south to heavier, iron-rich clay in the north, gives Bonnes-Mares a distinctive combination of perfume and muscle. It is a wine that marries the grace of Chambolle with a deeper, more structured core.
Expect a brooding, complex bouquet of dark cherry, blackberry and violet, underpinned by earth, spice and fine oak. The palate is full-bodied and tightly wound in youth, with dense fruit, firm tannins and a long, savoury finish. This is a grand cru made for patient cellaring.
