From Domaine Armand Rousseau, one of Burgundy's most celebrated estates and based in Gevrey-Chambertin. Founded in the early 20th century by Armand Rousseau and a pioneer of estate bottling in the 1930s, the domaine remains family-run today by his grandson Eric Rousseau alongside daughter Cyrielle. A significant slice of Clos Saint-Jacques was acquired in 1954 in the name of Charles Rousseau.
A Premier Cru regarded by many as worthy of Grand Cru status, Clos Saint-Jacques sits on a south-east-facing slope just above the village. 100% Pinot Noir. Expect a wine of mineral complexity and great precision, with the typical gamy, savoury aromatics of the climat, alongside pure red fruit, blood orange notes and exquisite definition through to a long, taut finish.
Hand-harvested and pneumatically pressed, then matured in 100% new French oak barrels from François Frères. Aging continues for 20 to 22 months, with light filtration before bottling.
