Domaine Albert Mann's Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling is drawn from Alsace's very first officially recognised Grand Cru — a south-facing granite hill above the village of Kientzheim, cooled each evening by alpine breezes off the Vosges. The Barthelmé brothers have farmed their holdings organically and biodynamically for decades, and the resulting wines are among the most precise and terroir-driven in the region.
The 2020 opens with lifted floral notes of hawthorn and linden, broadening into classic Riesling aromatics of anise, melon, grapefruit and a hint of petrol. The palate is tense, refreshing and mouthwateringly saline, with chiselled acidity underpinning long mineral lines and a gentle lick of crystalline citrus on the finish.
Naturally fermented in stainless steel and aged on lees for several months, this is a textbook Grand Cru Alsace Riesling — built for the cellar and an effortless partner for grilled lobster, chicken in riesling sauce, or Asian-spiced white meats.
