Arnaud Mortet founded his own label in Gevrey-Chambertin alongside his work at the family estate, taking on a small holding of vines with his first vintage in 2016. Based in the Cote de Nuits, the domaine is known for a precise and respectful approach that aims for the pure expression of Pinot Noir.
This Cuvee de Tres Vieilles Vignes is drawn from very old vines across several lieux-dits in Gevrey-Chambertin, some between eighty and a hundred years of age. A portion of whole bunches is used, with the central stems painstakingly removed by hand, and the wine sees a measured amount of new oak. The result is floral and finely textured, with wilted rose petal lifting vivacious red fruit over a smooth, silky and medium-bodied palate.
Serve at cool room temperature and decant young bottles. It pairs well with roast game, duck, beef and earthy mushroom dishes.
