From Domaine de la Vougeraie, the Boisset family's prestigious estate based in Premeaux-Prissey between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1999 to bring together the finest Burgundian vineyard holdings the Boisset group had acquired since 1964, the domaine today farms around 44 hectares spread across more than 30 appellations and is certified organic, with biodynamic principles applied throughout the vineyards.
A Premier Cru Gevrey-Chambertin from the Bel Air parcel, a top-of-slope vineyard sitting directly above the Grand Cru Chambertin Clos de Bèze. 100% Pinot Noir, with vines planted between 1965 and 1980 (and a younger 2012 replanting), grown on east-facing soils whose ancient marine fossils attest to their Jurassic origins. Expect a refined, racy and elegant Gevrey of real class, with floral aromatics, fine red and dark fruit and a structured, mineral-driven palate built for the long term.
Hand-harvested at organic-certified yields, with whole-bunch fermentation followed by a long élevage in French oak barrels with a measured proportion of new wood.
