Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel is brewed in Bruges by Brouwerij De Halve Maan, which describes it as the first Belgian Quadrupel ever made. Launched in 2010, it is the richest and most intense beer in the Straffe Hendrik family, built on a refined blend of special malts.
It pours an intense dark brown. The aroma is spicy and elegant with slightly roasted hints, while the palate combines a clean dryness with notes of coriander, dark fruit, anise and roasted chestnuts. The finish is long and slightly treacly, rounding out a complex and full-bodied beer.
Serve at around 8°C in a chalice or tulip glass. It stands up to dishes with pronounced flavours, especially red meat and game, and makes an excellent match for chocolate desserts.
