Chimay 150, also known as Chimay Green, is a Trappist beer brewed at the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Scourmont in southern Belgium, where the monks have been brewing since 1862. It was first brewed in 2012 as a limited release to celebrate the brewery's 150th anniversary and has since become a permanent member of the Chimay range.
A strong blonde ale, it is described by the brewery as fresh and fruity, yet flavourful and powerful. The aroma is lively and herbal, with notes of mint, bergamot, lime and eucalyptus, followed by rosemary and clove with subtle floral hints and a touch of ginger. It finishes refined and elegant, with a gentle warmth.
Serve at 6 to 8°C in a Chimay chalice or tulip glass. Its fresh, herbal character pairs nicely with seafood, roast chicken, herb-driven dishes and Chimay's own abbey cheeses.
