Roagna is one of Piedmont's most revered traditional estates, working old vines with minimal intervention across some of the finest sites in Barolo and Barbaresco. Rocche di Castiglione is a celebrated cru in Castiglione Falletto, prized for Barolos of exceptional perfume, detail and nuance.
Made from Nebbiolo with very long macerations and extended ageing in large wooden casks, this is a classic, age-worthy Barolo. Expect lifted aromas of pressed rose, red cherry and wild berry, layered with leather, star anise, tobacco and forest floor. The palate is savoury and finely textured, with grippy yet refined tannins and a long, mineral, salty finish.
Among the most graceful of Barolos, it drinks well young but will reward years in the cellar. Serve with braised beef, game, truffle dishes and aged cheeses.
