Roagna is a historic Piemonte estate based in Barbaresco since the early 1900s, now run by fifth-generation Luca Roagna. Pajè sits at the heart of the estate and has long been considered its defining cru, the source of the family's most expressive Barbarescos.
The 2019 Barbaresco Pajè comes from the central Pajè parcel, with vines aged between 25 and 50 years. The wine shows the explosive aromatics and mineral spine that the cru is known for, with an incredible perfume and a finely etched structure. It is a beautifully detailed expression of this terroir, deep and soil-driven with signature hints of licorice and fresh herbs over a core of black cherry fruit.
Fermentation takes place in cask with extended macerations of 60-90 days, followed by ageing for three to five years in Slavonian oak botti. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, maintaining the traditional Roagna style.
