Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey was founded in 2001 by Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc Colin) and his wife Caroline Morey. From a winery in Chassagne-Montrachet the estate handles small parcels across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Santenay, all in a single, painstaking house style.
Morgeot is the southernmost of the Chassagne Premier Crus, occupying a long, gently sloping bench on heavier clay-limestone soils. It produces some of the more powerful and structured whites of the village, with broader fruit and more weight than the lighter, more chiselled climats further north. Pierre-Yves's bottling draws on parcels in Fairendes and Abbaye de Morgeot.
The 2023 is restrained and pale-hued in its youth, with quiet white-fruit aromatics opening into a deep, clay-rich palate. Whole-cluster pressing, native-yeast fermentation and ageing on lees for up to eighteen months in 350-litre barrels without stirring give the wine real breadth and a long, solid finish that rewards medium-term cellaring.
