This is the rare white from Domaine Marquis d'Angerville, a house best known for its Volnay premiers crus. The domaine holds a little over a hectare of Chardonnay in Meursault 1er Cru Santenots, a historic site that runs up against the Volnay boundary, right alongside the family's red vineyards.
The 2022 is complex and textural, with layered citrus fruit, a faint spicy note and a broad, easy-flowing palate that carries real finesse. The whites were picked early in this sun-filled vintage, which has preserved freshness and a fine line of acidity beneath the generous texture.
The d'Angerville family has owned the estate since 1804, and Sem d'Angerville was one of the first growers in Burgundy to bottle his wines at the domaine. Under Guillaume d'Angerville the vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 2006, with certification in 2009, and the white is made with the same meticulous care that defines the reds.
