Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is one of Burgundy's most exacting white wine producers, founded in 2001 by Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc Colin) and Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc Morey). The estate works small parcels across Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Saint-Aubin, with each cuvée bottled separately to capture the character of its individual lieu-dit.
Les Chenevottes sits on the northern edge of the Chassagne 1er Cru slope, just below Les Vergers, on stony limestone soils that lend a saline, cut-glass tension to the wines. Pierre-Yves works the parcel from old vines, pressing whole clusters at high pressure without crushing and fermenting on indigenous yeasts in 350-litre barrels with around 30% new oak.
The 2023 is a poised, mineral-driven Chassagne with citrus pith, crushed stone and white-flower aromatics framing a long, saline finish. It is lifted and precise rather than opulent, and rewards patient cellaring as the secondary notes build.
