From one of Burgundy's most exciting young talents, Pierre Girardin's Meursault 1er Cru Le Poruzot is a refined expression of Premier Cru Chardonnay. Pierre-Vincent Girardin, representing the 13th generation of his winemaking family, established his own domaine in Meursault in 2017 at just 21 years of age. His approach centres on letting the terroir speak, with organically farmed vineyards and custom-made 456-litre oak barrels from Francois Freres that impart minimal wood influence, allowing purity and precision to shine through.
The 2023 Le Poruzot is sourced from the esteemed Les Poruzots climat on the Cote de Beaune, where rich clay-limestone soils lend signature minerality and finesse. On the nose, expect elegant aromas of white stone fruits — pear and peach — interwoven with floral notes and a subtle hint of oak. The palate is silky and finely chiselled, balancing the generous richness that Meursault is known for with vibrant acidity and striking mineral depth. The finish is long and persistent, carrying notes of hazelnut and fresh butter. 13.5% ABV.
A compelling wine from a producer widely regarded as one of Burgundy's rising stars, this is a serious Premier Cru that rewards careful cellaring or thoughtful food pairing.
