Domaine Marquis d'Angerville's Bourgogne Blanc comes from a single plot of about 35 ares in the eastern part of Volnay, on flatter ground below the hillside where the soils are deep, very clayey and only lightly calcareous. The parcel was share-farmed for many years before the domaine took over its direct management after the 2016 harvest, and its vines are now around 30 years old.
The 2022 Chardonnay is broad and mobile in the mouth, with real depth of aroma, delicious flavour and lively energy. The whites were picked early in this warm, sunny season, which has kept the wine fresh and bright while still giving it generous texture.
The domaine treats this wine with the same care as its Meursault 1er Cru Santenots, and the vineyard is farmed biodynamically, as all the estate's land has been since 2006, with certification following in 2009. It offers an accessible introduction to one of Volnay's most historic family estates, led today by Guillaume d'Angerville.
