A distinctive, modern take on Watervale Riesling from Koerner, the Clare Valley label founded by Damon and Jono Koerner in 2014 (now run by Damon and Maddy Koerner). Fruit is drawn from the family's Gullyview and neighbouring Parish vineyards, including old vines planted in 1923 and 1973 on classic terra rossa soils of red clay over limestone.
This is Watervale Riesling with more texture and character than the regional norm - expect lime, grapefruit, wet slate and a lightly spicy, herbal edge, with a streak of saline minerality and bright, dry acidity driving a long, focused finish.
Hand-picked, with around 6 hours on skins in press, then wild-fermented in a mix of stainless steel and ceramic amphora for 2 months before ageing on fine lees in stainless steel. Unfined and unfiltered, with only a small sulphur addition. Around 12% ABV.
