Domaine Joseph Colin was founded in 2017 by Joseph Colin, son of Marc Colin and younger brother of the renowned Pierre-Yves Colin, after he took a share of the family vineyards to begin his own estate. With holdings across Saint-Aubin, Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, the domaine has built a quick reputation for fresh, mineral-driven whites of real precision. This Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru is from En Cailleret, one of the commune's most highly regarded sites, sitting on the Puligny side of the village.
The wine shows the richness for which Chassagne is known, balanced by tension and clarity. Expect citrus, white peach and orchard fruit with notes of white flowers, almond and a stony, mineral character. The palate is layered and finely textured, with vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish, oak playing a supporting rather than leading role.
Serve lightly chilled with scallops, lobster, white fish, roast chicken or creamy cheeses. A little time in the cellar will allow it to gain further depth and complexity.
