Domaine Moreau-Naudet traces its roots to 1950, when Marie Naudet and René Moreau married and joined their families' vines, and the Naudet name has been tied to winemaking in Chablis for centuries. Stéphane Moreau lifted the domaine to new heights after taking over in 1991, and since 2016 Virginie Moreau has continued his approach of organic treatments, hand-tended vineyards, manual harvesting and deliberately low yields.
Valmur is one of the seven Grand Cru climats on the steep right bank slope above the Serein, nestled between Les Clos and Vaudésir. The domaine farms a small parcel of a little over half a hectare here. This is Chablis at its most concentrated and powerful, layering ripe citrus, orchard fruit and hints of honeysuckle over a deep core of oyster shell minerality, with the tension and length that mark the finest sites in the appellation.
This is a wine built for the cellar, rewarding patience with greater complexity. Decant if opening young and serve with lobster, scallops in beurre blanc, roast chicken or aged Comté.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
