Morgeot is the largest of the Chassagne-Montrachet premier crus, spread across the southern end of the commune where the soil turns heavier and more clay-rich than anywhere else in the village. It gives the fullest and most substantial whites in Chassagne, wines with real breadth of fruit that nonetheless keep the commune's characteristic citrus edge.
The nose is generous and layered, with ripe peach, pear and lemon confit over hazelnut, butter and a light toasted spice. The palate is broad and satisfying, filling the mouth with orchard fruit before a firm mineral line draws it back together, and the finish is long, nutty and quietly savoury.
Domaine Bruno Colin came into being in 2003 when the family estate of Michel Colin-Deleger was divided between his two sons, creating separate domaines for Bruno and his brother Philippe. Bruno works from his father's old premises in the middle of Chassagne-Montrachet across roughly eight hectares, and signed his first wine under his own name in 2004.
