J.J. Prüm is a benchmark producer in Germany's Mosel valley, revered for Rieslings of crystalline purity and remarkable ageing potential. This Kabinett hails from the famed Wehlener Sonnenuhr, the "sundial of Wehlen", a precipitously steep vineyard of blue Devonian slate that ranks among the greatest sites in the Mosel.
Kabinett is the most delicate expression in the German Riesling hierarchy, picked at modest ripeness to give a wine of feather-light body and gentle sweetness. Aromas of green apple, lime, white peach and spring blossom give way to a palate of glorious tension, where a fine seam of sweetness is balanced by bright, mouth-watering acidity and a distinctly slaty, mineral finish.
Delicate and endlessly refreshing, it is delicious in its youth yet will reward extended cellaring, evolving beautifully over many years. Enjoy well chilled as an aperitif, or with fresh seafood, spicy cuisine and lighter Asian fare.
