Joh. Jos. Prüm is among the most storied names in German Riesling, a Mosel estate founded in 1911 and still family run. Its holdings in the celebrated Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard, planted on steep slopes of blue Devonian slate, are the source of some of the region's most age-worthy wines.
This Spätlese is picked from riper fruit, giving a style that balances gentle sweetness against Riesling's naturally vibrant acidity. It is a hallmark of the estate that these wines are built for the long haul, often rewarding years or even decades in the cellar.
The nose is delicate and precise, offering apple, pear and citrus alongside stone fruit and the flinty, slate-driven minerality that defines the site. On the palate it is weightless yet intensely flavoured, the racy acidity keeping everything crisp and lifted through a long, mineral finish.
