L'Ouverture is the entry into the world of Frédéric Savart, one of the most acclaimed grower vignerons in contemporary Champagne. A 100% Pinot Noir Blanc de Noirs sourced from Premier Cru vineyards around the village of Écueil in the Montagne de Reims, it is crafted with the same meticulous, artisanal approach Savart brings to his more celebrated cuvées.
Based on the 2022 vintage with reserve wines from previous years, around half the wine ferments in neutral oak barrels, the other half in stainless steel. Natural fermentation, a minimum of 24 months on lees and a low dosage give L'Ouverture its refined balance of tension and generosity.
Expect an elegant aromatic palette of fresh red berries, ripe citrus, florals and subtle pastry notes, carried by a silky texture, fine bead and a distinctly saline finish. A modern Champagne classic at the grower-vigneron level, produced in just 28,000 bottles.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
