Domaine Lamy-Pillot is a well-regarded family estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, with a small holding spread across some of the village's best lieux-dits and a long tradition of producing classical, terroir-driven white Burgundy. Pot Bois sits on the slope above the village, an east-facing parcel on chalky limestone soils that brings a cooler, more energetic profile than many of its lower-lying neighbours.
The estate works the vineyards by hand, with Chardonnay whole-bunch pressed and fermented in barrel before extended ageing on its fine lees. Oak is used quietly, with a small proportion of new wood, allowing the freshness and mineral lift of the site to lead.
The 2023 Pot Bois lifts from the glass with aromas of green apple, ripe pear, white flowers, lemon peel and freshly baked bread. The palate is medium to full bodied with a satiny texture, brisk acidity and a long, saline finish that nods to the limestone roots of the site. A refined, energetic Chassagne ready to be enjoyed over the next several years.
