From the heart of Burgundy's Cote de Beaune, Domaine Follin-Arbelet's Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc 2023 is a refined expression of Chardonnay grown on the majestic, steep clay-limestone slopes of this distinguished appellation. Led by Franck Follin-Arbelet — a trained geologist turned vigneron — and now joined by his son Simon, this family domaine in the village of Aloxe-Corton has earned a reputation for crafting whites of uncommon flair and precision, raised with the same care and style as their celebrated Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru.
The grapes are harvested by hand from vines averaging 20 years of age, farmed sustainably without synthetic fertilisers or herbicides. In the cellar, the wine is fermented slowly in open-topped wooden vats using only indigenous yeasts, reflecting the domaine's commitment to minimal intervention. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, the wine captures the stony terroir of Pernand in its purest form.
Expect a pale gold robe with aromas of citrus blossom, white peach and a subtle flinty minerality. The palate is fresh and vibrant, offering silky texture, balanced acidity and a long mineral-driven finish. At 13% alcohol, this is an elegant, food-friendly Burgundy blanc that pairs beautifully with roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes or aged Comte cheese.
