Domaine Moreau-Naudet was born in 1950 from the marriage of Marie Naudet and René Moreau, and flourished under Stéphane Moreau from 1991. Virginie Moreau now guides the estate, staying true to organic treatments, hand work in the vineyard, manual harvesting and low yields, with fruit picked a touch later than many neighbours.
Montmains is regarded as one of the leading Premier Crus on the left bank of the Serein, its south-east facing slopes resting on Kimmeridgian limestone. Fermented with natural yeasts and rested on its lees without new oak, the domaine's Montmains delivers lemon, white peach and crushed stone aromas, with a tightly focused palate, saline minerality and a long, chalky finish.
Ideal with oysters, scallops, grilled white fish or a simple roast chicken, and capable of rewarding a few years in the cellar.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
