From Domaine Armand Rousseau, one of Burgundy's most historic and revered estates, based in Gevrey-Chambertin. Founded in the early 20th century by Armand Rousseau and a pioneer of estate bottling in the 1930s, the domaine now spans just over 15 hectares, more than half of which is Grand Cru, and is run by the founder's grandson Eric Rousseau alongside his daughter Cyrielle.
A Grand Cru from the Mazis-Chambertin (often spelled Mazy) climat, occupying the Mazis-Bas section on shallow limestone soils on the lower slope of Gevrey. 100% Pinot Noir from a 0.53-hectare parcel. Expect a powerful, structured wine with spice, creamy red and dark fruit and a firm, age-worthy frame, gaining complexity steadily over time in bottle.
Hand-harvested and pneumatically pressed, then matured in French oak barrels from François Frères. Aging continues for 20 to 22 months, with light filtration prior to bottling.
