Château Thivin, the oldest estate on Mont Brouilly and in the hands of the Geoffray family since 1877, is widely considered the benchmark domaine of the Côte de Brouilly. The estate's Reverdon bottling comes from a single 5.5-hectare hillside in the Brouilly appellation, with friable pink granite soils — closer in style to top-flight Fleurie than to the clay plains where much of generic Brouilly is grown.
100% Gamay from 45-year-old vines on pink granite and sand, facing east-south-east. Expect vibrant aromas of crushed violet, peony, dark cherry, plum and a touch of chocolate spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied and concentrated, with a pillowy texture, talc-like tannins and tangy acidity. A precise, floral and long-lived Brouilly.
Certified organically farmed and hand-harvested. Vinified in whole bunches using the domaine's signature 'grillage' technique, then raised in stainless steel to preserve freshness before bottling.
