'Heurtebise' is Chartogne-Taillet's single-vineyard Blanc de Blancs, drawn entirely from a south-facing parcel of sandy clay over limestone in the village of Merfy. Alexandre Chartogne has pushed this historic family house — in continuous family hands since 1870 — towards biodynamic viticulture and site-specific parcel selections, producing some of Champagne's most talked-about grower wines.
The 2019 is 100% Chardonnay from the Heurtebise plot, partially aged in barriques sur latte for 36 months and dosed as Extra Brut (4–5 g/l) to let the terroir speak. Fragrant citrus peel, peach and jasmine open onto gingery spice, vanilla bean, rose and orange notes, with a medium-bodied palate, fine mousse and a dry, elegantly spicy finish.
A benchmark grower Champagne — precise, energetic and thoroughly ageworthy.
