Maisoncelle is a single named parcel at Mareuil-le-Port, planted entirely to Pinot Noir and bottled here as a blanc de noirs. The site sits at the base of the slope on poorer ground where limestone gives way to a notable seam of iron, and that shift in soil is what gives the wine its darker, more savoury register. The "RP" on the label refers to the réserve perpétuelle, a standing reserve kept plot by plot and topped up from each successive harvest, so every bottling carries something of the ones before it.
Expect aromas of ripe red apple, white peach and dried orchard fruit, with a gentle smokiness and a hint of crushed stone underneath. The palate is textured and quietly powerful rather than showy, with fine mousse, a savoury almond note through the middle and an extra brut finish that leaves the fruit dry, taut and lingering.
Dehours & Fils is based at Cerseuil in the commune of Mareuil-le-Port, on the left bank of the Marne Valley around 15 kilometres from Epernay. Four generations of the family have farmed here, with Jerome Dehours now tending roughly 14.5 hectares spread across some 42 separate parcels in Mareuil-le-Port, Oeuilly and Troissy. The soils are clay and sand over limestone bedrock, and the house has built its reputation on treating these Marne Valley sites as individual terroirs rather than blending components.
