Caroline Morey is the daughter of Jean-Marc Morey and the wife of Pierre-Yves Colin, two of Burgundy's most highly regarded white winemakers. After her father's retirement in 2014 she inherited his choice parcels and launched her own label, working independently of her husband's domaine but with the same uncompromising focus on terroir.
Les Chaumées is a north-facing Premier Cru on the higher slope of Chassagne, on shallow soils over limestone bedrock. The cool aspect and mineral-rich substrate give wines that are taut, flinty and built for ageing rather than early opulence.
The 2023 is sourced from older vines on the climat and made with whole-cluster pressing, native-yeast fermentation, and ageing in 350-litre French oak with a measured proportion of new wood, no bâtonnage and bottling unfiltered. The result is a precise, gently reductive Chassagne with white flowers, green apple and crushed stone running into a long, saline finish.
