A single-vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from Blank Canvas, the Marlborough-based project of winemaker Matt Thomson and Master of Wine Sophie Parker-Thomson, founded in 2012. Fruit is drawn from the Holdaway family's vineyard in the Dillons Point sub-region on the coastal fringe of the lower Wairau Valley - land the family has farmed since 1864, now managed under regenerative viticulture.
A classic, precise expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Expect a focused, explosive nose and palate of passionfruit, blackcurrant, guava, lime zest and a subtle hint of oyster-shell, with a mineral drive that summons river stones and sea spray, and a distinctly saline, balanced finish.
Grown on young alluvial silts over sand - soils high in salts and thiols - and 100% tank-fermented to preserve fruit clarity and freshness. Machine-harvested at night to protect acidity, with only a brief period on light yeast lees before bottling.
