Arnaud Mortet tends his vines in Gevrey-Chambertin with his sister Clémence, working from the same cellar and with the same care as the renowned Domaine Denis Mortet. Lavaux St-Jacques is one of the most highly regarded Premier Cru sites of the appellation, set near the mouth of the Lavaux combe where cool air drawn down the valley lends the wines real freshness and length.
This is a Pinot Noir of structure and finesse, combining vibrant red and dark berry fruit with a savoury, spiced complexity. The cool influence of the combe gives the palate energy and drive, framing the fruit with fine tannins and carrying it to a long, refreshing finish.
A serious Premier Cru that rewards a few years in the cellar, it is best decanted and served at cool cellar temperature. Match it with roast lamb, duck, game birds or earthy mushroom dishes.
