'Le Terroir' is the entry cuvée from Adrien Renoir, the young vigneron who took over his family's estate in Verzy on the Montagne de Reims and began bottling under his own name in 2019. Working exclusively with estate fruit, Adrien abandoned herbicides in 2015 and achieved organic certification in 2020, with a growing move towards biodynamic practices.
A 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from around 40-year-old vines in Verzy on chalk soils. Expect a fresh, mineral-driven profile with Meyer lemon, yellow pear, dried white flowers, shortbread and brioche aromas, leading into a textural, vinous palate with a fine, incisive mousse and long, saline finish.
Around 20% of the wine is vinified and matured in barrel, with reserve wines aged in foudre. Aged on lees for around 24 months before disgorgement, and bottled as an Extra Brut with very low dosage.
