From Domaine Yves Cuilleron, a benchmark producer of the Northern Rhône based in Chavanay, in the heart of the Condrieu appellation. Founded by his grandfather in 1920 and taken over by Yves in 1987, the estate has become a leading reference for Viognier and the great whites of the Northern Rhône.
100% Viognier from south to south-east-facing terraced parcels on muscovite-rich granite soils above the village of Chavanay, planted at high density (8,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare). 'La Petite Côte' is a brand name used by the domaine to identify the cuvée rather than a specific lieu-dit. Expect an exuberant, immediately seductive nose of peach, apricot, quince and citrus, lifted by floral notes of lilac, rose and violet, leading into a fleshy, full-bodied palate with spicy power and a touch of refreshing bitterness on the finish.
Hand-harvested and gently pressed, with spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in barrel under temperature control, followed by 9 months of aging in barrel and foudre on lees with regular batonnage.
