Weingut Prinz is a small Rheingau estate in Hallgarten, founded in 1991 by Fred Prinz as a hobby after a career in wine sales. Today Fred and Sabine Prinz farm around 11.5 hectares organically, with an emphasis on biodynamic principles. Riesling accounts for roughly 90% of plantings and the estate has been a VDP member since 2005.
Hallgartener Jungfer is classified as VDP.Grosse Lage (Grand Cru). The site is south to south-east facing with soils rich in quartzite, gravel and loess-loam. The high proportion of quartzite stores the day's warmth and releases it at night, driving the mineral intensity and freshness that make Jungfer wines so distinctive.
The Jungfer Riesling GG 2022 is the estate's top dry Riesling from this site, a mineral, full-bodied expression with saline salinity, citrus elegance and notable ageing potential. Grown from biodynamic vines, the grapes are gently whole-bunch pressed, the must allowed to settle naturally and fermentation carried out slowly over several weeks.
