Weingut Keller is one of the most sought-after Riesling producers in Germany, based in the village of Flörsheim-Dalsheim in the Rheinhessen and run by Klaus-Peter Keller with his wife Julia and son Felix. The Kellers are widely regarded as the benchmark for dry Grand Cru Rheinhessen Riesling. 'Von der Fels' translates to 'from the rock', and is drawn from younger-vine fruit across the estate's Grosses Lagen (Grand Cru) vineyards.
100% Riesling Trocken, sourced from young vines in top Keller sites, predominantly Kirchspiel with smaller contributions from Frauenberg, Hubacker, Abtserde and Morstein. Expect a Riesling of pronounced limestone character — bright, elegant, delicately spicy citrus and salty notes on the nose; lean, juicy and saline on the palate, with a firm, precise structure. Year after year, one of the great values in German dry Riesling.
Hand-harvested grapes are macerated on skins for up to 40 hours before being basket-pressed and fermented with ambient yeasts in Fuder and smaller oak vats. Matured for one year on the lees, then lightly filtered before bottling. 12.5% alcohol.
