Tua Rita is located in Suvereto, a small medieval town in the Tuscan province of Livorno on the coast south of Bolgheri. Founded in 1984 by Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio Bisti, the estate's 2000 Redigaffi was the first Italian wine ever to receive a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker, cementing its status as one of Italy's greatest wines.
Redigaffi is Tua Rita's iconic 100% Merlot from Suvereto. The 2021 shows the estate's hallmark balance of concentration, freshness and finesse, with a deep bouquet and layered intensity on the palate supported by silky tannins and a long finish. Only around 12,000 bottles are produced each vintage.
The vineyards sit at around 100 metres above sea level on clay-silt soils that give the wine a distinctive minerality and saline character. Yields are kept deliberately low to ensure concentration of flavour, and the wine is matured in barrel before bottling.
