Masseto 'Massetino' Toscana IGT 2020 750ml

Massetino is the second wine of Masseto, the legendary 100% Merlot vineyard in Bolgheri originally identified by André Tchelistcheff for its distinctive Pliocene blue clay soils. First released from the 2017 vintage, Massetino is crafted with the same pedigree, team and philosophy as its iconic sibling, offering an earlier-drinking, slightly more approachable interpretation of this singular coastal terroir.

The 2020 Massetino is a Merlot-dominant blend with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc, from a vineyard of dense Pliocene blue clay mixed with gravel, sand and rock fragments. It shows a deep purple-ruby colour with complex aromas of black cherry, plum, raspberry jam and cranberry layered with dark chocolate, dried herbs, tobacco and Mediterranean mineral notes. The palate is full-bodied and silky, with fine-grained tannins, concentrated dark fruit and a persistent, briny, minerally finish. Alcohol is around 14.5%.

Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels before release.
