Domaine Sylvain Cathiard is a family estate in Vosne-Romanée, founded by Sylvain's grandfather and run since 2011 by his son Sébastien. Alongside its celebrated Vosne-Romanée premier crus, the domaine has steadily expanded into the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, the cooler, higher country in the hills behind the Côte de Nuits, where it now works several parcels vinified in a dedicated new cellar.
This Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge is Pinot Noir from the domaine's vines around Villers-la-Faye. The altitude brings a cool, lively personality: bright red cherry and redcurrant fruit, a fresh line of acidity and a gently saline, mineral finish, all handled with the same finesse that defines the Cathiard style.
Approachable in its youth, it suits roast chicken, pork fillet, duck or a mushroom risotto, served slightly cool to keep its freshness to the fore.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
