Benjamin Leroux is a Beaune-born winemaker who managed Domaine du Comte Armand for fifteen vintages before founding his own domaine and négoce in 2007. His own vines are certified organic and farmed biodynamically, and his purchased fruit comes only as grapes from growers farming sustainably, organically or biodynamically.
Nuits-Saint-Georges is an important village for Leroux. In generous years he can make several wines here, including a lieu-dit bottling from Les Allots and premiers crus from Les Cailles, Aux Thorey and Les Boudots. This village wine is a blend of climats, which in recent vintages has drawn on Aux Saint-Jacques and Aux Herbues on the Vosne-Romanée border, the northern part of Fleurières just south of the town, and the stony Les Tuyaux at the northern end of the appellation.
Made with ambient yeasts, a maceration of around three weeks and ageing mostly in barrel with no more than 30% new oak, it pairs the dark fruit and earthy depth typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges with the lift and perfume of its Vosne-side sites.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
